What’s your outcome? What’s the goal you’re out to create?

Being intentional means having a clear purpose behind every action you take. It’s about being deliberate with your time, energy, and focus to ensure that every step you make is working toward the results you want to achieve.

When it comes to sales, intentionality starts with defining clear outcomes. Do you know what you’re aiming for in each interaction, each call, each proposal? Without a defined goal, it’s easy to get sidetracked or lose momentum. Being intentional allows you to stay focused, align your actions with your goals, and achieve consistent results.

What Does It Mean to Be Intentional in Sales?

It means setting a purpose for every action.

  • When you pick up the phone to follow up with a prospect, ask yourself: What do I want to accomplish with this call?
  • When you walk into a meeting, know: What outcome am I here to create?
  • When you set a goal for the year, ask: What specific steps will I take to achieve it?

Being intentional isn’t about adding more to your plate. It’s about getting clear on what matters most and taking deliberate actions toward achieving those goals.

Action Steps to Start Being Intentional Today

1️⃣ Write Down Your Goals:
Take some time to outline your sales goals for the year, quarter, and month. Be specific. For example: “Increase revenue by 10% this quarter” or “Close 5 new accounts by the end of January.”

2️⃣ Define Outcomes for Each Task:
Whether it’s a call, meeting, or email, ask yourself: What’s the purpose of this action? A well-defined outcome keeps you focused and ensures you’re making progress.

3️⃣ Review and Reflect Regularly:
Set aside time each week to review your progress. Are your actions aligned with your goals? Are there adjustments you need to make to stay on track?

4️⃣ Bring Intentionality to Your Interactions:
When meeting with a client or prospect, know what you want to accomplish by the end of the conversation. Do you want to close the sale? Schedule a follow-up appointment? Get feedback? Clarity leads to confidence.
