Being Organized: A Mindset for Efficiency

For sales professionals everywhere

Being organized isn’t about perfection—it’s about efficiency. Christina Scalize said it best: "Organizing isn’t about perfection; it’s about efficiency, reducing stress and clutter, saving time and money, and improving your overall quality of life."

At its core, being organized is a mindset. It’s about sorting data, actions, and tasks into meaningful categories, allowing you to work smarter, not harder. And the best part? There’s no single "right" way to do it.

Some people file. Some make lists. Others prefer neatly stacked piles. The method doesn’t matter as much as having a process that you can rely on—one that allows you to get things done quickly, effectively, and completely.

How Well Is Your System Working?

Ask yourself:

  • Does your system help you complete tasks efficiently?
  • Is it easy to maintain and adjust when needed?
  • Does it align with the results you want to achieve?
  • Or… are you in need of an upgrade?

The good news? People often admit when they’re disorganized—creating an opening for improvement. But for some, disorganization becomes part of their identity, making change feel harder. Others associate "being organized" with being rigid or controlling.

It’s time to reframe the way we think about organization.

Action Steps to Improve Your Organization

  1. Evaluate Your Current System
    • What’s working? What’s not?
    • Where do things slip through the cracks?
    • What small improvements could make a big difference?
  2. Find a System That Works for YOU
    • Are you a list-maker? A digital planner user? A sticky-note kind of person?
    • Test different methods until you find one that supports your productivity.
  3. Schedule Time for Organization
    • Set aside 15 minutes at the end of each day to organize notes, emails, and tasks for the next day.
    • At the end of the week, review your progress and adjust where needed.
  4. Declutter for Clarity
    • Eliminate unnecessary paperwork, emails, and outdated tasks.
    • Keep only what’s relevant and necessary for achieving your goals.
  5. Make Organization a Habit
    • The goal isn’t to be perfectly organized—it’s to create a system that helps you perform at your best.
